stalking production

i was in a group with; jack, isaac and james. we were asked to produce a short clip based around the topic of stalking and/or stalkers. initially we had an idea to produce a blair witch inspired video log style clip, we thought of using a handheld camera for the video logger and another handheld for the stalker(s). we could have also used another camera on a tripod to get longer shots and steady angles to show integral angles. we then changed our idea to incorporate first person camera shots, mid shots, long shots and many more. our final idea was a lot different to our original. we decided to film in a remote overgrown area at the side of prestons college, this gave our scenes an impression of isolation.

jack was the director of the production and also the main character of our show. i was also a character in the production and so was isaac. james was the cameraman for our production. i played as a stalker in this scene, i hid my face with an improvised balaclava and followed jack, i also have 2 fight scenes in which i exert struggle and at one point force. i think overall the production went fairly well and i am pleased with the results, the scenes went well after a few cuts and reshoots and i am happy with the overall outcome. i think the production at the start could have done with something to keep the scenes interesting to the target demographic to improve.

when editing the clips to make a sequence, i used many effects such as video effects to create transitions between cuts, used dips to black, cross dissolves and additive dissolves.   i used a song for the beginning of the sequence which switches between minor and major key to create juxtaposition, the final scenes are all in minor to show the severity of the nature of the film. i made the film black and white to keep contrast but also to show no bright colors as they give connotations of happiness and joy. i used a border around the outskirts of the frames to give the film a rugged look.Screen Shot 2018-10-05 at 2.16.57 PM.png

i achieved a production that i am happy with. i achieved this by using multiple camera shots and editing in a way that was visually appeasing. i think i need to improve on my acting in front of the camera. i liked the final scene when they are fighting because of how i edited it, the original clip had a strap on the floor and i managed to edit it out. i think the last scene was cleverly filmed due to the fact that it seems choreographed when in actual fact it was improvised, i think the scene works well and looks realistic.
