Mind Map

Working Practices
part time – working a shorter amount of hours than full time employment e.g.- 3 days a week instead of 5 days working 9-5pm. can be more fitting for someone who is still in education due to being flexible with hours however the wages may not be too high and you may not be able to get more hours if you requested them.
voluntary- voluntary work is when you agree to work for no wage for a cause or to show the company how dedicated you are. voluntary work looks good on any CV however you cannot sustain yourself purely from voluntary work.
full time – full time work would be working full shifts such as 9am until 5pm, working full time can be good as it is a sturdy job and a paycheck that you can rely on, however it can be difficult to fit education around full time work.
freelance – freelance work is when you work on your own accord but through a governing company or corporation, this would mean you are given tasks to complete within a deadline. freelance work means you can work from home however the work is independent and you are expected to deliver on a deadline and for your work to be of professional standard.
self employment- self employment means you source your own work such as painting and decorating you would find your own customers. self employment has many benefits such as possible higher wages and no boss, however if you mess up you are to fix it on your own without support and work flow can be slow if you have no clients/customers.
pro bono – pro bono is basically a professional volunteering to provide services for free, people do this as it helps people in need, lawyers would be pro-bono to help a client who does not have the finances to pay for a legal representative.
FlexiTime – Flexitime means you can decide a period of when you come into and leave work, so if you had a 30 hour week and you came in an hour and a half later, you make up the time missed in time slots where there are flexible hours such as Overtime. this would be good for new mothers so they can take the time they need however it could be overwhelming having to make the hours up at another time.
job share – job sharing is when two part time employees share a full time shift and split the full time wage. this could be good for people who have unpredictable working hours so they share it, however the wages wont be great and it might be hard to put a job share in place.
Our idea
our initial idea is a sketch show loosely based on the English version of the TV show “The Office”. we would like to include a sort of humor hidden within the script by playing on how people perceive others on first sight. our idea is based on a common interview with 2 workers sat round a table interviewing one person at a time, there will be a perfect interview and one that doesn’t go to plan. we aim to show the do’s and do nots of interviews. the short film will follow aspects of the genre of mockumentaries and will have consistent humor throughout to entice and entertain the target demographic of teenagers around 15+. we hope to include subtitles as part of the humor by using stereotypical jokes within, however we will assure we do not cross the line in an attempt to keep the audience happy and to not offend anybody. we also aim to exaggerate how the interview goes by requesting those undergoing the interviewees to go to great lengths in an attempt to gain a job. for this project ideally we will have the majority of actors wearing a suit or some sort of formal wear to further give the impression of a real interview.
Research
when we collated as a group and heard the project brief we were instantly drawn to shows such as “the office” and the way they tackle their humor and professional work space at the same time. the office follows a similar mockumentary production as we wish to accomplish, in the office a camera crew follows members of the workforce at the business and captures their dull and funny moments whilst putting in the occasional interview. we were also drawn to many other high profile shows such as “Brooklyn nine nine”. we will be sure to capture part of the shows humor in an attempt to keep the target audience entertained for long periods of time. we also thought about doing this idea as a sort of comedic informercial.
this tv show was produced in a way that it includes witty humor with minimal effort. they use the scenes to their advantage and create humor from typical work that would go on in a corporate environment, however they keep the humor consistently feeding through to the viewer to keep them entertained and distracted from a work environment that can be boring to some people. this tv show serves the purpose of entertaining the target demographic. shows that are split into seasons are a great way of keeping the audience watching due to the fact that a well produced season will follow the plot throughout multiple episodes which keeps the audience keen on watching more. this program also takes advantage of a wide range of famous cast members who are sure to bring viewers towards the show in support of their favorite actors, Craig Robinson and Steve Carell star as leading rolls in the cast. the producers of the show have clearly done their research into their target demographic in order to make sure their film is correctly aimed towards the right people.

Location Recce
For this idea ideally we will only need to film in a few locations, however, the locations are not based off-site which widely increases our flexibility for time slots we can film within. we will be using a 1 to 1 office located at the back of the library for the managers office. we will be using the library itself as a workspace however this location will be used very little as this will be used as a walkway between the two other filming locations. we will also need to use the boardroom located at the back of the library, this location will be used for roughly half of the filming done.
Final product
Evaluation
Overall i am quite happy with my finished product. we came across quite a few moments that halted our production in some sort of way however we managed to pull through. unfortunately we lost access to one of our filming locations and we also had problems with multiple broken microphones and a faulty camera. we also came across a problem due to our groups disorganization which meant not all cast members brought in their costumes on the right days meaning we had to come up with a plausible solution. i like to believe that our idea educates the target audience on what not to do in an interview situation. i believe we conquered this in a satyrical way that also entertains the demographic. i believe the flow of the work could have gone smoother if we checked all our equipment and was more organised, i must now be sure to let these mistakes be learnt from and corrected in my future projects. my research heavily influenced my work as it helped me get into character for the filming times. i also believe it helped capture the humor we hoped to capture.
