This job is something that  really interests me because it links media with a company that i would like to work for and is something that i take interest in. i think having interest shows that you are keen to work and is good for employability. i think this job will also be an opportunity to climb the ladder and work my way up. I think i would quite enjoy doing this kind of work and it is something i should apply for.

i think this job particularly appeals to me due to the fact that it utilises a strong starting salary as well as training and education to keep you learning about the industry sector. i think this is something i should keep an eye out for as it would be a strong option for me. for this particular role i would need to be familiar with the platforms that i would be working with and have some sort of knowledge of the media sector however due to the kind of job that it is, everything that i would need to know would be covered in training. I quite like this job because there are opportunities for promotion in future and i would be meeting clients and building my own portfolio.

i think this job is also quite appealing due to the fact that it is a strong company to start working for as it is government funded and a crucial job role. i think this job is also quite interesting as it involves undertaking tasks that are very unusual. Lancashire Constabulary is quite a reputable place to work as well as having the possibility of promotion.

I think the interview went particularly well because i came prepared and ready to answer the questions they asked with a relevant answer, i believe i followed the correct standards of an interview and presented myself in a professional and conductive manner. before having the interview i did some research on the internet to gain a better understanding and familiarise myself with some of the techniques. at present i already knew a lot of them as i have applied for a fair few jobs.

if i was to do this interview again i would enter the interview more formally as it is good etiquette to start an interview. i also think i could have presented myself more confidently and could have shown that i was organised and ready for the interview. i would also ensure to bring a show-reel or a portfolio with me to present the employers with some of my previous work.

personally, i think i could improve my CV as it is quite simple and short, A lot of people have cover letters which tell the employers a little bit about themselves so i could possibly be at a disadvantage due to this.

over the past few years i think I’ve developed a lot of skills that could possibly help me in a professional environment. for example, over the past 6 months i have developed my skills with handling customers and customer service. i have done this through my current employer and have become more confident around customers. I have also developed my hospitality skills through my employer from hosting children’s parties at work. when i first started i struggled to get the routine to this part of the job however, now i know how to do it efficiently and on time.

i accessed the Barclays life skills app to do some research to see how big companies advise people to act during interviews. from this i learnt that organisation and time management is a crucial part of an interview. if they believe you have these skills the employers are more likely to employ you due to your hire ability. enthusiasm for the job also plays a big role inside interviews because it makes you look like your willing to personally grow within the job role. Communication within the interview is also key to accurately represent yourself.

my five year plan is to progress onto full time work and begin to start my savings. my goal is to put at least 10% of my wage every week/month. on my current wage this wouldn’t be a lot however when i finish my wage would be higher due to being in full time work. i would also like to gain either an apprenticeship or full time work in something to do with the media industry such as managing a companies marketing or possibly being an editor. i haven’t fully decided what i want to do in the future yet.

i think to improve my employability i need to work on my communication skills whilst under pressure as i often stutter and take a bit of time to figure out what to say and this isn’t always seen as professional. however i do believe i represent myself in the correct manner in the interview environment. i also think expanding my portfolio to show a wide range of different outcomes and briefs will set me apart from possible others.

i have also undertaken a real client brief to develop my skills fitting the given brief and time period. i created addiction themed posters of cult classic films which feature drugs. i think the work was completed to a high and professional standard because there was plenty of information available to the readers. this particular outcome was for the company Addaction (now called WeAreWithYou). the client also had positive feedback for our final outcome.

Fear and Loathing

Skills i would need to be an editor.

If i was to become an editor i would need a variety of different skills to ensure i am efficient and so that my work is of a high standard. firstly i think it is crucial that an editor is good at problem solving and perseverance, for example an editor has to stick to a plan even if the shots are in some way wrong. Editors also find themselves often in stressful situations so it is essential that they are able to work through it calmly. Consistency in an editors work is also important due to the fact that it could effect your future job prospects. Working under a strict time-frame is also something that would make me excel as an editor.

this is another piece of work that I believe I have completed to a professional standard. I created this particular trailer to advertise and entice the target audience and I feel that I have accomplished this as the trailer got positive reviews. I particularly liked doing this particular piece of work as the plot line and the characters are already destinguished characters that we have already built up. For example, “Lewis Hussain” the fictional character has been used in multiple movies and trailers including cameos in multiple other multi media productions. I think developing an actual character was a good idea as it is a good way to build a connection to the target demographic. It is also a good way of keeping work continuously professional and entertaining as long as you approach the idea in the right way.

this particular video was one of the first movies I created, I particularly liked this film as we explored our own ideas to learn skills of the trade, the brief helped spark our imagination to create something unique and different from each one that had been done before. In comparison to the work above I believe there is a massive difference in quality, however they are both presented in the correct and professional way. I enjoyed having the freedom to create a film in any way that we wanted, however at the time my knowledge of typical conventions of the genre or my knowledge of cinematography was nowhere near as good as it is further into the course.
